I Grew Up Inside This Work

My name is Mark Johnson, and I am a second generation hypnotherapist. I did not discover hypnosis in a weekend seminar. I grew up around it, watched it change lives up close, and eventually built my own practice on it. Along the way I learned the difference between hypnosis that soothes and hypnosis that transforms, and that difference is exactly what I teach.

Today I train practitioners across the country through Good Vibes Hypnosis Training. The program carries certification through the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, recognized worldwide, and I serve as a Career Partner with the Newton Institute, so this training also opens the door to spiritual regression work if that path ever calls to you. Reading from my recommended list, watching the training videos in the resource library, and doing the work. At least five complete hypnosis sessions with people outside of class, which is the part that changes you. Every student tells me the same thing afterward, that the reading made sense but the sessions are where it became real. You keep access to the resource library after you graduate, so the reading and the videos stay available whenever you want to go back to something.

It is following a feeling back to where it started rather than analyzing it where it sits. A student of mine loved country western dancing but froze every time she met a man she actually liked, and years of talking about her dating life had never explained why. In a class demonstration we asked her subconscious to trace that exact feeling to its origin, and she went straight to age four and a memory of her father shouting and drinking. She released the fear the child had been holding, and the adult pattern went with it. She came back the next morning glowing, having slept through the night for the first time in years. That is the technique. You will learn it here.

It does, and I am blunt about it in class. Plenty of certifying organizations will tell you a free listing in their member directory brings clients. In twenty plus years I have not seen that happen. So instead I show you what has actually kept my own practice full. You will learn how to set up a Google Business Profile properly and collect real reviews, which is the lifeblood of a local practice now. You will learn how to build ethical relationships with doctors, counselors and chiropractors, because when a client stops smoking or finds relief from chronic pain, their doctor asks how, and that one question starts a referral snowball. And we talk about the grassroots side, using local meetups, meditation groups and community groups to get your first sessions and your first war stories under your belt.

Almost every student arrives carrying this fear, so we take it head on, on day one. You will learn the Dave Elman induction, a technique that has been working for over a hundred years and takes five or six minutes to guide someone into a deep, relaxed state. Then comes the moment I love watching. In your very first practice trade you will guide your partner to close their eyes and tell them their eyelids are locked shut, sealed, and to try to open them. They try. They cannot. Something shifts in both of you right then. That is not a mystical gift showing up, it is a structured skill working exactly the way it is built to, and you did it on your first day.
