Charleston Hypnosis Training carries a personal weight for me that no other city can claim. I was born and raised here, growing up on James Island while my father practiced hypnotherapy in Charleston, holding past life sessions at the house, and everything I teach traces back to what I first watched him do in the Lowcountry. That family lineage was later refined through my study of legendary figures like Gil Boyne and Gerald Kein, giving South Carolina students a clinical foundation with roots as local as they come.

Is Hypnotherapy a Real Career in a City Like Charleston?

It was for my father, and Charleston has only grown kinder to this work since. The Lowcountry has always held a deep respect for healing done with care and for things handed down properly, and today its wellness community is far larger than the number of deeply trained practitioners serving it. Between locals, the steady stream of newcomers, and the ability to see clients online anywhere, a Charleston practice has more room to grow than most cities twice its size.

What Will I Actually Learn?

The real craft, in the order a craft should be learned. Inductions, starting with the Dave Elman method my father learned from Elman himself. Deepening, suggestion, and the interactive techniques that separate a real hypnotherapist from a script reader: parts work, regression to cause, working conversationally with whatever the client brings. The business of practice, from your first free sessions to referral relationships. And all of it practiced daily, under live supervision, not just watched.

Hypnotherapy Training

This training in hypnotherapy was the best that I have ever had. It provides the perfect combination of traditional learning and experiential learning. The breakout sessions during which we traded hypnotherapy sessions were extremely valuable. Mark is an expert in this field and shared numerous practice related stories as well. I would recommend this training to anyone interested in practicing hypnotherapy!

Do I Have to Believe in Anything for This to Work?

No. Hypnosis is a natural state of focused attention, and it works on skeptics exactly as well as on believers, sometimes better. My father was a medical doctor; he delivered over 1,500 babies using hypnosis for pain control, about as practical an application as medicine offers. If the spiritual side of this work calls to you, the training opens that door too. If it never does, you will still graduate as a thoroughly capable clinical practitioner.

How Do the Class Hours Work for Charleston Students?

Class runs 10:00 to 6:00 Central, which is 11:00 in the morning to 7:00 in the evening in the Lowcountry, with your morning left intact. We meet Thursday through Sunday every other week, three modules, twelve class days in all, which costs a standard work week only six days off across the entire certification.

What If My Mind Is Too Busy for Hypnosis?

Then you are in good company, because busy minds fill my classes. Hypnosis is not meditation, and you do not need to silence a single thought to reach a deep, useful trance. It is focused attention, and analytical minds often make the best subjects once they are guided correctly. You will learn clinical approaches designed for exactly this, and you will feel them work on your own busy mind in practice sessions before you ever guide a client through them.

What is the connection between this training and Charleston?

I was born and raised in Charleston, and I grew up on James Island while my father practiced hypnotherapy here, holding sessions at the house that became my earliest memories of this work. Long before I ever studied formally, the Lowcountry showed me what hypnosis can do for a person. Training students in Charleston is not just another city page for me. It is home, and it is where this lineage actually comes from.

This work began for me in a Charleston house where my father guided his sessions, and it would mean something to see it take root here again through you. The Lowcountry respects things that are handed down and done properly. Master these techniques and you carry a genuine lineage into a community that has always understood the value of one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Our IACT certification is fully recognized in South Carolina and internationally, a credential you can practice on anywhere in the Lowcountry and beyond.

Classes run 10:00 to 6:00 Central Time, which is 11:00 in the morning to 7:00 in the evening in Charleston. A full day with your morning left intact.

Yes. This foundational 110 hour live training is the specific Newton Institute prerequisite, the same road my own regression work started on.

Yes, and most of my students do. The schedule was built around that. Three modules of four days, Thursday through Sunday, every other week, which for someone on a standard work week means six days of time off rather than three straight weeks away from your life. The self directed hours happen on your own schedule. Plenty of people have come through this program while holding a full time job, raising a family, or running another practice.

From the first day. Every class day includes supervised practice, where you go into a breakout room with a classmate and take turns as hypnotist and as client. You will experience hypnosis yourself as often as you facilitate it, which matters more than people expect, because knowing what it feels like from the inside makes you far better at guiding it. Then before you certify you complete at least five full sessions with people outside the class. By the end you have real hours behind you, not just notes.

Schedule a Discovery Call A relaxed 20 minute conversation about your goals. No pressure, no obligation to enroll.
