What Does Improvisation Have to Do With Hypnosis?

Everything that separates a professional from a script reader. A recorded course hands you sheet music, exact words to say in an order some other client once needed. But real clients change key mid session. They go deeper than expected or not deep enough, bring up what you did not anticipate, answer questions with questions. The practitioner who can only read notes is lost the moment the song changes.

The Logistics

When Is Class, and What Does It Demand?

Three modules of four days, Thursday through Sunday, every other week, twelve live days in all. Kansas City sits in Central time, so class runs 10 to 6 with no conversion, and a standard work week gives up just six days across six weeks. The 110 self directed hours fit wherever your life has room.

You certify through the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, recognized worldwide, with your first year of membership included and lifetime access to the resource library. Structure underneath, freedom on top, in the education as in the craft.

Which state do I practice in from Kansas City?

Both, comfortably. Your IACT certification is recognized in Missouri and Kansas alike, we go over any rules that apply on either side of State Line Road, and online sessions render the question mostly charming anyway. A KC practice serves the whole map.

No degree, no prior clinical background and no previous experience with hypnosis. That surprises people, and it is worth being clear about why it is true. The field is self regulated, so the qualification that carries weight is certification through a recognized professional body rather than a university credential.

What you actually need is the training itself. In this program that means 110 hours of live class, 110 hours of self directed study, at least five complete sessions with people outside of class, a written assignment, an exam we prepare for together, a short ethics course through IACT and one recorded session you submit. Complete those and you hold certification through the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, recognized worldwide, with your first year of membership included. If you already have a clinical license or a coaching practice, this stacks on top of it rather than replacing it.

No, and this is one of the real differences in how I teach. Reading a script to someone produces a pleasant session. It rarely produces the kind of change a client still remembers years later, and it leaves you stranded the moment they say something the script did not anticipate. What you learn here is interactive hypnosis. You work conversationally with whatever the person in front of you brings, and you follow their own language down to the root of the thing. The client's subconscious supplies the words. Your job is knowing what to do with them.
