I Am Not a Big Personality. Can I Really Do This Work?

You may be better positioned than the extroverts. Stage hypnosis rewards showmanship, but clinical hypnotherapy rewards the opposite, the ability to sit quietly with another person, listen beneath their words, and respond to what is actually happening rather than performing confidence at it. The strongest practitioners I have trained are frequently the quietest people in the class.

The training builds the speaking part gently. You practice inductions from day one in small supervised breakout rooms, two or three people, never an audience, and by the third module the voice you use in session has become simply another way of listening. Clients do not want a personality. They want to be understood.

The Crowded Field

What Are Class Hours From the Pacific Coast?

Class runs 10 to 6 Central, which is 8 in the morning to 4 in the afternoon Pacific. Three modules of four days each, Thursday through Sunday, every other week, which costs a standard work week six days off spread across six weeks. The early start buys you free evenings for the entire training.

The 110 self directed hours, the reading list, the video library, and five complete practice sessions with people outside class, happen on your own schedule, which is where Seattle’s long dark winter evenings turn out to be an educational asset.

Do Washington students really connect in an online class?

In this program that means 110 hours of live class, 110 hours of self directed study, at least five complete sessions with people outside of class, a written assignment, an exam we prepare for together, a short ethics course through IACT and one recorded session you submit. Complete those and you hold certification through the International Association of Counselors and Therapists, recognized worldwide, with your first year of membership included. If you already have a clinical license or a coaching practice, this stacks on top of it rather than replacing it.

Often yes, and the mix is part of the education. Classes draw students from across the country and sometimes overseas, and it is common to find classmates from your own region among them. You will trade practice sessions with many different people, which matters, because every mind you work with teaches you something a similar one cannot. Students regularly keep trading sessions with classmates long after graduation, and those relationships tend to turn into peer practice groups and referral friendships that outlast the class by years.
