What Does Personal History Have to Do With Hypnotherapy?

Everything, and Richmond understands this instinctively. Every client walks in carrying a story about themselves, written mostly in childhood by an author who did not know better, and the anxious patterns, stubborn habits and quiet self doubts are simply chapters that keep getting reread. Regression to cause takes the client back to where a chapter was written, and what was written under one understanding can be revised under a better one.

A city that lives among monuments and museums knows the difference between honoring history and being ruled by it. That distinction is the entire therapeutic art, and Richmond students arrive already fluent in it.

I wish there were 10 or 20 stars, as I cannot begin to put into words how amazing the Hypnosis Training course was with Mark Johnson. Once COVID-19 derailed the original class schedule of meeting in-person for two separate weeks of training, Mark presented through Zoom. We had presentations and lectures, we were able to see notes and outlines, video clips and live demonstrations with his shared screens. Lots of member participation and interaction. The separate rooms were perfect for practicing techniques with partners. Zoom allowed for Mark to enter the rooms and observe; as well, there was a help button so he could assist at anytime. Feedback throughout was excellent. As I have practiced with volunteers, friends, family, all of which was done on Zoom, both the clients as well as myself have been extremely comfortable and found the on-line experiences to be comfortable and effective. I feel very well prepared and have formed some awesome relationships with Mark and my fellow classmates. The best!

How Far Can a Richmond Practice Reach?

Much farther than the city limits, which is the quiet advantage of the location. Online sessions put the entire I-95 corridor in range, Washington’s stress economy to the north, the Research Triangle to the south, Hampton Roads down the 64, all reachable from a quiet room in the Fan at Richmond overhead. My own practice has run online for years, and the format suits this work beautifully.

At home, the market is roomier than the coasts, a full caseload of stress, sleep and habit work, nearly no certified competition, and a word of mouth culture that still functions like a much smaller town.

Quietly excellent. A metro of 1.3 million with almost no certified competition, a creative population already open to inner work, and a location on the I-95 corridor that puts DC, Raleigh and the whole mid-Atlantic inside an online session. Classes run 10:00 to 6:00 Central Time, which is 11:00 in the morning to 7:00 in the evening Eastern for Richmond students.

Yes. This foundational 110 hour live training is the specific Newton Institute prerequisite for Virginia students moving toward past life regression and LBL work.

It depends entirely on what you intend to do with it, and I would rather say that plainly than sell you something. If you are going to see clients, then yes, and the tuition tends to come back inside your first twenty paying sessions or fewer. If you want the certificate for the wall, or to add a line to a coaching page you are not really going to use, then no amount of tuition is worth it and I will say so on the call.

The other half of the question is which training is worth it, and there I would judge any program, mine included, on three things. How many hours are live with the person teaching, how many times you will guide a real human being with someone experienced watching you, and what happens after the last class day.

A course that is mostly recordings and no supervised practice produces people holding a certificate who have never actually run a session, and that is where the disappointment comes from. Ask any program those three questions, not just this one.

It does, and I am blunt about it in class. Plenty of certifying organizations will tell you a free listing in their member directory brings clients. In twenty plus years I have not seen that happen. So instead I show you what has actually kept my own practice full. You will learn how to set up a Google Business Profile properly and collect real reviews, which is the lifeblood of a local practice now. You will learn how to build ethical relationships with doctors, counselors and chiropractors, because when a client stops smoking or finds relief from chronic pain, their doctor asks how, and that one question starts a referral snowball. And we talk about the grassroots side, using local meetups, meditation groups and community groups to get your first sessions and your first war stories under your belt.
